Automotive Recall FAQs in Woodstock, GA

Receiving a recall notice for your vehicle can cause uncertainty, but the team at Krause Family Ford is here to help. Recalls are issued by vehicle manufacturers to ensure that you’re driving the safest possible version of your vehicle. We are committed to helping our customers stay protected, and if you receive a recall notice, our service department can quickly resolve the problem so you can drive home with confidence. Still wondering how the recall process works? Here are some answers to frequently asked questions we hear regarding recalls.

What is a recall?

A vehicle manufacturer or the NHTSA will issue a recall when a part of a vehicle has been identified as faulty and potentially harmful to drivers. The manufacturer will contact authorized dealerships and registered owners to let them know about the recall. Bring your vehicle in if you receive a recall notice and we will repair or replace the faulty part for free, as all costs will be covered by the manufacturer.

What is the NHTSA?

The NHTSA, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is the federal agency that regulates vehicle safety in the United States. They aim to save lives and reduce the economic impact of traffic accidents through education, research, standards and regulations. They provide vehicle safety ratings for all brands, makes and models and oversee recalls.

How do I know if the used vehicle that I'm interested in has a safety recall?

It’s easy to find out if a used vehicle has any active recalls on it. On the NHTSA website, type the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or year, make and model into their recall search tool. You can also search for recalls using your VIN on the Ford website. If you’re looking for a used vehicle in our inventory, keep in mind that we provide a free copy of the CARFAX® Vehicle History Report™ for every Certified Pre-Owned model sold. This report will contain information on any active recalls.

How will I find out if my vehicle is subject to a safety recall after I purchase it?

Ford will let you know via phone, email or first-class mail. Your state registration must be up to date in order to receive this notice. The report will describe the nature of the recall and provide instructions for next steps.
